If you are chocolate caramel candy mixed with peanut butter and fudge topping swirled in, this is for you.
We went through Dairy Queens Drive-Thru and as I had not been there in awhile I was not sure what flavors they had for Blizzards anymore but saw a promotion for “Jurassic Chomp”, a limited time promotion as part of a movie tie-in with the new Jurassic Park movie coming out and decided to give it a try.
Marv kept saying “Chomp Chomp” as I was trying to order. The teenager that took the order probably thought I had a 4 year old with a sore throat as he seemed to be surprised to see a middle aged man sitting next to me.
It was a hot day and the teen did not do the turn the cup upside down this that most Dairy Queens do to show it is thick and after opening the top could see why as it was a little soupy.
It was vanilla soft serve with peanut butter swirled in with a lot of smaller than a dime chocolate candy disks filled with caramel with fudge topping swirled in. The “chomping” would be for the abundant candy disks. Overall, the mixture is like “Moose Tracks” ice cream that many brands make and you can find in your local supermarket, but probably double the candy.
I found it to be a bit too rich and not something I would order again but can see kids going crazy over it – just don’t get anything larger than a small and even then, you might want to ask for a cup and split it.
