Takeout From China Garden and a Movie In

Marv wasn’t doing too well so we got takeout from China Garden on South Anthony Blvd.    I got Cashew Beef (pic below) but unfortunately, they gave me white rice with no flavor instead of fried rice and not even the soy and orange duck sauce packets they put packaged in with it could get it to be the tasty dish it usually is.

***SPOILER ALERT*** “Collateral Beauty” – you may not wish to read further if you have not seen the movie.

We rented the movie “Collateral Beauty” that had a blockbuster cast of Will Smith, Kate Winslet, Edward Norton, Helen Mirren, Michael Pena and Kiera Knightly and was much better than I expected it to be considering I had seen no ads for it.   From looking on the internet afterward it had mixed and low ratings.   I am guessing it is because Will Smith played a very serious role and there was none of the usual levity and comedy he normally brings to the screen and instead seems to carry a dark cloud, oppressive fog around him the entire film and that is just not what a typical Will Smith fan would expect; however, he did portray the character that was needed to drive the story line.   He goes into a deep depression after the loss of his child and the business he formed with his partner is starting to crumble around him because of his inability to cope and his partner and co-workers decide they need to sell the business to keep it afloat but cannot get him to even discuss, so they resort to trying to document him as not being of sound mind to they can serve the best interests of the company.

As it deals with heavier subjects is tear jerking in a few places, would be a bummer if you were expecting a light-hearted comedy as the subject matter is heavier and deeper, but still overall a good movie.
