Dinner with Marv and Gary at Renaissance Restaurant

Gary is Marv’s friend from way back and at one point they lived together with other guys when Marv was buying a house in Andrews.  Now they trade skills – Marv does plumbing for Gary and Gary has been doing Marv’s windows at the house.  They were done for the day and Marv asked if I wanted to join them for dinner and as Renaissance is on Gary’s way home, we stopped in for dinner there.

Now they trade skills – Marv trades his plumbing expertise for Gary and Gary has been doing Marv’s windows at the house.   He also has a son about the same age as ours.  They were done for the day and Marv asked if I wanted to join them for dinner and as Renaissance is on Gary’s way home, we stopped in for dinner there.

I listened to stories of their misspent youth and comparing war stories of the Dad’s and antics of sons. although Gary’s seems to help him.  I would be nice if Kyle would help Marv more, but he always claims to be “too busy”.  Gary asked if he wanted a bigger door put in the back and Marv got excited that he could drive his motorcycle in the breezeway then.  I commented it would not be the first time most of his motorcycle ended up in the house as he used to have it tore apart and parts everywhere in the living room in our 3rd floor walk up.  Gary that he used to drive his motorcycle up the stairs at his house.  They had fashioned a ramp for the front steps and if he got a running start could get it all the way up the stairs and would go straight into a room on the top floor and only occasionally put holes in the walls.

It had also turned out they had both worked for the same person but at different times and had stories to trade on that.  The man was very smart but had done a lot of drugs in college and it fried parts of his brain and doesn’t seem to have a filter anymore.   The worst was that Marv recommended him to one of his customers and when there he stared at the woman’s chest the entire time he spoke with her the told her she had nice breasts.  She was a middle-aged librarian at a local Christian college and Marv couldn’t get him out of there fast enough.  Very sad.

I tried their chopped steak for the first time that came with grilled onions on top and didn’t care for it as the onions were done enough so they mostly got scraped to the side and the chopped steak was watery, probably from the corn on the plate not being drained enough, but the fries that were served on a separate plate were hot and crispy and very good.  I usually get breakfast dishes and they are always good and think I will stick with that going forward.
