Crockpot Dinner

I don’t really consider it “cooking” if you dump stuff in the crock pot, boil water for instant potatoes and heat up a jar of gravy, but it makes for a quick meal after a long day that Marv and I ended up eating while watching “Designated Survivor” on Hulu.   The show stars Kiefer Sutherland who becomes President after the Capitol Building is bombed.

The crockpot part a part of a ham I pulled out of the freezer and put in the crock pot with Rainbow Baby Carrots and 1/2 cup honey, 1 tsp of cinnamon and a 1/2 cup of water just to add a little bit of flavor.  The potatoes were Idahoan Baby Reds, which I highly recommend; all you have to do is boil water and add the potatoes and stir.  They are closer to actual real mashed potatoes than other brands and you don’t need milk or butter (but could use if you preferred) and they only cost around $1 a bag.   The Mushroom Gravy was a jar of Heinz brand and think it was $1.29 – I usually wait until they are on sale for $1 and pick up to keep on hand just for such occasions.

The orange stuff on top of the potatoes is French Fry Seasoning that has three large opening, which Marv failed to notice before dumping quite a put on his mashed potatoes.  Guess I should put seasoned salt in my salt and pepper shaker in the future to avoid this.

The rest of the meal turned out ok, but I am not loving how the Rainbow Baby Carrots look being cooked in the crock pot, which is my first time ever cooking them in one.  Not going to lie; think the purple ones look like turds, so I don’t see them joining other items in the crock pot in the future, at least in their full, baby carrot form.
