Light Snow


I can’t complain about the light snow and one of the few days it has snowed this year, especially after having grown up during the Blizzards of early 1977 when the snow drifted above the top the roof by my room in a trailer.

I don’t have any pictures from that time, but the below photo from this blog was what the street where I lived looked like with the mountain of snow on either side of the street way above even any tall adults head.

As a kid, I prayed for snow days like this so we didn’t have to go to school, not realizing the implications of how devastating it was for my single mom to try to keep the water pipes from freezing or being able to pay the bills or keep her job because she couldn’t make it into work or scary to try to drive the three miles to work to make sub-minimum wage+tips at the local truck stop.
