RICHARD’S RESTAURANT

I joked with Marv that we are now old enough to eat at Richard’s as ones we went to in the past everyone seemed to be over 50.

The quick and dirty is that prices are low, some entrees are good, salad bar basic, but the sides and rolls leave a lot to be desired.

The entrees we had seemed to have been made in-house and were good.  I had the Country Fried Steak and it is the lowest I have seen in town – $6.99 with 2 sides.  The hashbrowns received were cold and the dinner roll was obviously not made in house, was small and was ice cold.  When it was brought to our servers attention she advised that is how they serve them because if they put them on the steam table all day the dry out.  Would it really be that much trouble to pop some in the oven while entrees are cooking?

The salad bar was very basic with lettuce and a few toppings (no bacon bits).  They didn’t have bleu cheese dressing on the salad bar, but they do have it and can bring some out in a small bowl if you ask.  They had few other salads such as macaroni, pasta and potato salad; not sure if made in-house or purchased – they were ok by not my favorite.  They also had chocolate pudding and Jello.

Our server was rather abrupt and service was spotty, but the hostess/cashier pitched in and helped the servers when she was not busy so overall service was ok. I would go there again to try out more dishes as they are affordable, but will not be my first pick.
